Sandra Jones, Deputy Village Clerk/Finance Officer

Call to Order
Councilman Willie Summerlin led us in the invocation; Mayor Pro-Tem Hawkins led us in the pledge of allegiance
 
Quorum Present
Sandra Jones stated that there was a quorum present
 
Agenda Review
The Mayor asked if there were any additions to the agenda, there were none.
 
Introduction of Special Guests:
Mayor Boyd welcomed Tom Johnson, Commissioner; Sarah Beth Rhodes, Clerk of Court; Gary Hartong & Randall Jones of Wooten Co. and Jeannette Newbern, former clerk
 
Approval of Minutes
Mayor Pro-Tem Hawkins motioned that the minutes be approved with any necessary corrections, Councilman Summerlin seconded, all in favor voted “aye”.  The motion carried.
 
Approval of Financal Reports
Mayor Pro-Tem Hawkins motioned that the financial report be approved, Councilman Summerlin seconded, all in favor voted “aye”.  The motion carried.
 
Discussion
We informed those at the meeting of our new website www.villageofsimpsonnc.com
 
Mayoral Comments
Mayor Boyd encouraged our citizens to volunteer
 
 
 
Police Chief Comments
If you are going out of town please leave your address with the Village and the police will do residence checks on your property while you are gone.
 
Recognition of Volunteers
The Mayor presented certificates of appreciation to our volunteers.
 
Volunteer Comments
Frank Edwards expressed her appreciation for John and what he does to keep our citizens safe.
 
Swearing In
Sarah Beth Rhodes, Clerk of Court, swore in the Mayor, Council, Finance Officer & Chief of Police
 
Recognition of Staff
Mayor Boyd presented a plaque to Jeanette Newbern and Chris Bland (not present) for 5 years service to the Village and presented certificates of appreciations to John Waters and Sandra Jones
 
Adjournment
Mayor Pro-Tem Hawkins motioned that the meeting be adjourned, Councilman Summerlin seconded, all in favor voted “aye” and the meeting was adjourned.
